Woollahra Colleagues

ColleaguesWoollahra Colleagues Rugby Union Football Club has been playing in 1st Division of the NSW Suburban Rugby Union since its establishment in 1933. It runs seven senior grade sides as well as a Colts team and is the most successful club within the NSWRU, having won the most Suburban Cups in the 100 years of Suburban Rugby (44 Cups). Colleagues also holds the record for the Bruce Graham Shield (Division One Club Championship) being 22, including a record 9 in a row from 1955 - 1963 and an incredible 14 out of 17 years from 1955 - 1971.

Colleagues has a long history of touring and competing in 10s and 7s tournaments, with recent victories in the 2004 Bali International 10s and 2001 Hong Kong 10s. Many Colleagues players also regularly tour with invitation teams including the Sydney Schooners and Bali Legends to tournaments throughout Asia. In the spirit of always being on tour Colleagues is represented at the Bondi 10s by a team consisting of players from throughout the grades who have previously toured with the club to Bali, Hong Kong and other exotic locations including Canberra, Mudgee and Cumnock. Unfortunately a decision was made by the club not to give touring status to players who endure the annual road trips to play the gentlemen of Dundas Valley, Drummoyne and Forest in club competition games.

At the Bondi 10s the Colleagues team is on a mission to play an intoxicating mix of 10 man total rugby with little distinction between backs and forwards and an emphasis on scoring tries and entertaining all and sundry (particularly the ladies at the Bondi Hospital Party on Saturday night). However, if our backs are slow and our forwards are fat then expect plenty of rolling mauls and shots at goal to excite the crowd.
