British Lions
The Bondi Tens 'British Lions' bears little resemblance to the British Lions that you may be familiar with. True, we represent the coming together of the four glorious home nations, and we put our 'cultural' differences aside in the name of rugby and banter. However the similarities stop there. For one, we are unbeaten to date and an unknown quantity throughout the southern hemisphere. Secondly, our rugby is described by some as 'a thing of beauty' and 'the way the game was intended to be played' - something the professional tourists have not achieved since the magical 1997 South Africa / Wonderwall (!) tour.
It is a privilege to be playing in the 2008 Bondi Tens. Whilst this is the first time we have entered a specific team from the motherland, a number of the players are no stranger to the tournament having dazzled spectators in previous years with different teams. We very much look forward to demonstrating what it is to be a Lion, with a focus on enjoying/winning our rugby and having a few beers along the way.
